Globally, human exposure to environmental pollutants causes an estimated 9 million deaths per year and it could also be implicated in the etiology of diseases that do not appear have a genetic origin. Accordingly, there is need gain information about biomolecular mechanisms causally link inorganic with distinct adverse health effects. Although analysis blood plasma red cell (RBC) cytosol can provide important biochemical these mechanisms, inherent complexity biological matrices make this difficult task. In perspective, we will examine use metalloentities are present RBC as potential biomarkers assess pollutants.
